The Persistence texture pack marries both rustic and medieval senses of style together into a pretty package. The main goal here was to boost up the level of detail in textures throughout Minecraft, all without making the game look too different. The pack isnโ€™t entirely finished, though โ€“ a handful of the newest items from the 1.12 update havenโ€™t been done yet, and things like the horses and all of the paintings still need to be revamped to be in line with the rest of Persistence. You may also notice some graphical bugs around the game with this pack installed.

However, the author assures us that this pack will be totally finished soon. To be fair itโ€™s pretty close; a solid 95% at least. The things that have been finished look pretty good too. For one thing, growing vegetables and grains have much different graphics, so itโ€™s a lot easier to tell when theyโ€™re fully grown. That means you donโ€™t accidentally break them right before theyโ€™re ripe, which means you save time. For fans of jail servers and those who want to build their own jails, iron doors also look a lot more like cell doors, with a set of bars running through the port on top.

There are also two different versions of the Persistence resource pack โ€“ a 128x and a 64x version. The textures in the lower-resolution version arenโ€™t as sharp, of course, but the underlying theme of the pack is plain and easy to see, regardless of the version you use. Also, those lower-resolution textures are a lot easier for GPUs and CPUs to render, so if players experience slowdown or performance issues with the bigger pack, the smaller one might work.

How To Install Persistence Texture Pack

Note

In order to take full advantage of Persistence, it is highly recommended to pre-install the Optifine Mod.

  1. Download Persistence Texture Pack

Go to the download section and get the texture pack zip file.
If multiple versions are available, pick the version you like or that your computer can handle it.

    Jump to Download Section

  2. Launch Minecraft

Start the Minecraft launcher and make sure you have the Optifine or your preferred profile selected.

  3. In-game Resource Packs menu

Go to Options > Resource Packs...

  4. Open resourcepacks folder

Click on the "Open Pack Folder" button to open the folder where packs are stored, so you can add or remove resource packs as desired.

    Tip

To simplify the process, simply drag and drop the texture ZIP file directly into the Minecraft window, bypassing the next two steps.
  5. Install Persistence Texture Pack

Copy or move the downloaded texture zip file into the resourcepacks folder.

  6. Select Persistence Texture Pack

Choose the installed pack from the list of available resource packs in the left column.

    Tip
