Utilizing a number of small tweaks to Minecraft’s code and core gameplay, the Sophisticated Wolves mod makes the tameable wolves far more useful than they would normally be. One of the biggest improvements most players will immediately notice is a distinct boost to the wolf AI. For starters, they won’t try to run around in circles (around you) while you’re standing on a single block with a long fall beneath you. Many stupid vanilla wolves have died this way, and this is just the first area where this mod makes wolves more useful and viable, besides helping them to live longer.
You’ll probably see there are a few unique features you can access with your wolf of choice as well. Just right-click them while holding nothing in hand, and you’ll get access to a special GUI where you can issue a few simple commands. However, be sure to right-click them again after exiting this window since they will either sit or stand up according to their position when you click them the first time. This is actually an upgraded and diversified version of the Sophisticated Wolves mod by metroidfood, who was 100% ok with NightKosh taking up his work and making it even better with this release.
Staying true to its roots, the Sophisticated Wolves mod beefs up wolves and makes them smarter, but that’s all it does. You won’t get any kind of special armor or other gear you can attach to wolves, nor will you get items you can feed them for temporary bonuses. They just listen better and aren’t quite so suicidal, but even this is a marked improvement over the standard wolf AI you see in Minecraft. If you want your wolves to live longer lives, this is a mod you should download and install as soon as possible.
